THE PHENOMENAL WOMAN
I never subscribed to the Proverbs 31 woman movement. She was too much of an overused, cliched, church girl used a measuring stick of perfection. To me, it was a cocky evaluation of a woman and her duties to her husband.
Until...
I was divinely schooled through a devotional when God embraced me as such a woman and opened my eyes to seeing who she truly is. She is rare and virtuous, but her virtue is not in perfection. Her virtue is in her character and her choices in honoring God. She is clothed in strength and dignity and her work speaks for itself. She is the ultimate phenomenal woman who is all that and all women can be a phenomenal woman, a proverbs 31 woman, not by man's standards but by God's principles.
THE PHENOMENAL WOMAN IS ALL THAT...
She knows her worth and God-given identity.
The phenomenal woman is called as such because she is a virtuous woman. A woman whose worth is "far above rubies."
She is defined by her character.
She is ambitious and compassionate. She is a visionary who is extraordinary and aspirational. She is highly admired and has a powerful presence. She is faithful, dependable, capable, respectful, and supportive.
She carries herself with confidence and class.
She dresses very well. She wears high fashion clothes and ensures her family is well dressed. She carries herself with dignity. She is not loud and boisterous. She is sophisticated, elegant, and poised.
She is ambitious.
She works hard. She plans. She sets goals. She takes initiative. She is an intelligent investor who seeks new and profitable ventures to invest in. She is a business woman.
She identifies the needs of people in her community and she creates products to fulfill those needs. She has multiple streams of income and she spends her money wisely. She is an excellent employer who takes care of her employees.
She is supportive in her role as a wife.
This woman is an honorable wife. She supports her home and her husband. She is wise and intelligent enough to anticipate their needs and ensure herhousehold is never desolate or in need of anything. She does good to her husband and her husband is proud in the streets. Any man that has her in his life has "a good thing."
She is influential and creates her own waves.
She is the woman that shows that being independent does not mean being rude. Her husband praises her. Her children praise her. Her own works praise her because everyone around her can see and experience the results of her hard work. She has found her place and her purpose and she is using her talents and skills to be a positive influence. She is assertive. She creates her own waves and sets her own trends. She is a mentor and a good role model so that people around her can grow. She is inspirational. She is sensational.
She fears God.
Even with creating her own ventures and being busy with family and business, she prioritizes her relationship with God. She fears God and that is praiseworthy.
She operates as God's masterpiece.
She is His creation. She was created to create and she was born to bloom!
Often, we associate ourselves with what we were told about ourselves. We accept who people say we are before we even fully understand our own identity. Don't be caught up in that. Operate in who you were created to be.
I leave you with Maya Angelou's poem of the phenomenal woman.
